History
The property was purchased by the Plums in 2005. The barn was built in 1893. The wood and stone structure was originally used for hay storage and is now a workshop. The original owners, the Turner family, were of Irish descent. Giles Turner was a successful farmer and cattle trader. He and his wife Mariah gave their three daughters a very good education. The Turner sisters never married, and lived in the house for 60 years. One sister was the local piano teacher, and and another was a respected engineer in the US Naval Department who went on to write a popular high school science text book.
